In general sociology, classical sociologists of religion stress that the process of modernization reduces the effect of the religion and over time eliminates the entire effect in modern society. To enlighten the current modern state of sociology of religion, theories such as secularism and the recent approach in sociology of religion, “lived religion” are analysed.
