Kadina yönelik şiddet olaylarinda failinin ve mağdurun özelliklerinin incelenmesi ve karşilaştirmasi

Violence against women is a widespread social problem seen all around the World.This study examined police records regarding violence against women, which has been rarely examined. Data were collected from 12 police stations in the city of Mersin, Turkey. Data were investigated concerning characteristics of both victims and suspects of violence against women cases. Findings revealed that officers recorded 1023 cases in the city in a year. Of all the cases 75% was the first applicants. Eighty percent of the victims had one or two children. While the rate for the man-suspects was 96%, the rate for the man-victim was 3%. The rate for the women who used violence against women was 1%. It is more likely that young married men involve violence against women cases. While annual income seems a factor affecting violence against women, the level education and being an immigrant do not.
